I can't seem to find the answer to this so I a posting it here.

I've set up a tournament and I can't make the game anymore, but my friends would like to still go ahead. Will it start autonomically start if I am not online/playing?

Put succinctly: Does the tournament owner have to be online and/or participating for the tournament to start?

You don't even have to join your own tournaments.
