Board Game Arena

Hello all,

I am really enjoying BGA and can't believe I didn't find it sooner. A lot of times I am in a car and have like 5-15 minutes to play a game so obviously multiplayer board games are out on BGA. I am a premium member so "maybe" it is possible to play "hotseat" but haven't figured that out yet or if solo games would be better. The other option is of course to buy some games on the Android market but since I am already paying for BGA premium wondering if there are some fun games on here. Also I own so many games on PC that rebuying them on Android doesn't sound fun

I have been playing turn based games but they really have been mixed results for me. For example I am playing a 4 player game of Terra Mystica and have played it for a week and feel like I have barely done anything. On the reverse ended I played a few Tash-Kalar/Potion Explosion games and those have ended within 1 or 2 days and have felt great. Still I 100% prefer Realtime gameplay though.

Here are the requirements I would like
-It to be easily playable on a smaller screen (phone).
-Game has to be very fun solo.
-The game has to be just as fun solo as with multiple players. Don't really want to play a "bad" version of a multiplayer game.
-Somewhat complex and lots of interesting strategies/decisions.

So far the only games I have played with the "solo" tag.
Dungeon Roll - Haven't played solo but I can see it being an ok time filler but honestly not sure. Played the game once and it felt ok... maybe more plays it will feel better. It just felt too simple to me and just felt my decisions were all super obvious.
La Granja - I love this game but don't want to wear it out because it is close to my favorite game I played on BGA and am itching to play it with some friends.

Try the game "Welcome to..."! One game lasts ~15 minutes and it is among the most popular games on the site. If you like it, you can try the successor "Welcome to Las Vegas" as well. I'd say that both games are a little bit more fun in multiplayer but work very well in single player.

Also very popular is Kingdom Builder.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kingdom Builder doesn't seem to have a solo mode though. Were you thinking of a different game?

Hi - I'm wondering since you are talking about solo games - I'm trying to play "Welcome To" in solo mode. I go to "Play Now" and select it but no matter what I select up top on the dropdown I can't get it to let me play solo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Hi, I was indeed confusing Kingdom Builder with The King's Guild. Not sure though how good King's Guild is in Solo mode.

@Delaquinta: It*s best to go to Manual Mode. Then, after you clicked on the "Welcome to..." Icon, you can click on "Create a new table". You need to change to Training Mode on the left and then, you can change the player number to 1 player with the +/- buttons in the middle. Click on "Open table" and then click on "Start Game". He we go.

Alternatively, in Automatic Mode, after you clicked on the cogwheel next to the Welcom to... Icon, you should be able to change your prefered player number to "1 player". After you did that and click "Play now", you should start a Solo game.
