Backgammon with doubling cube in Alpha

Howdy,

here it is, the new Backgammon is coming.

It will implement full functionnalities of Backgammon.
- preparing your move, with Undo functionnality, before sending it to server, and other player
- Doubling Cube
- Crawford
- Gammon and Backgammon scoring

It is in Alpha version, and has been tested in real time game.

We already have a list of addons and modifications
- add hints on mouse over
- graphical enhancement (see bellow)
- chosing our favorite game display : horizontal mirroring; move tokens from upper left to lower left (instead of current upper right to lower right)
- turn by turn game not working properly
- spectator mode not working properly

...

How does the doubling cube affect gameplay? Isn't it a purely gambling thing, trying to pressure the opponent to concede? Just somewhat curious about what it adds to the game with no money involved

The screenshot shows it as a 3 point match. I assume that the first game of the match starts out as being valued as 1 point towards that goal of 3. If one of the players feels confident enough about their position they can bring out the doubling cube and if their opponent concedes, the cube placer wins that 1 point immediately. But if the opponent accepts the offer, the game will now count as 2 points. If the cube is placed and accepted again later...that first game could wind up being worth the whole 3 point match all at once. Conversely, the players could play a string of single point games where the cube lays dormant and whoever wins 3 single-point games first wins the match.

What is going on with this Alpha? I don't see any Bug fixes since September! Only on Netgammon, we had a community of over 12K players. Do you really want to drop this opportunity?
