Odds Variant - determining position

I really like the odds betting variant and would like to implement it at home.

How are the positions determined, especially in the case of cars in parallel spaces? Inside track?

Regarding the position, if they are tied, the car most close to the "line" (small part of the curves) is considered ahead.
