Board Game Arena

Hi everybody,

Since the introduction of Toc(k), only one setting had been available for Arena: 4 players in team with no variants.
I would like to ask you if you want to try some variants for the next season. Do not hesitate to say what your preferences are! On the bottom, you will find the links for three polls about it.
WHAT WON'T CHANGE IN ANY CASE:

• Same number of player: 4 in teams, because it feels like the most tactic and competitive form of the game
• Effects for 7 and 10 will be unchanged
• The variation of 5 will not be proposed at this moment. Indeed, even if that variation is interesting in se, it makes the game last quite longer (approx. +33% time)

Depuis l'introduction du Toc, seul une configuration est et a été jouable en Arène et elle n'a jamais changé depuis : 4 joueurs en équipes sans variantes.
Je voudrais vous demander si vous voulez essayer d'autres variantes pour la saison qui vient. N'hésitez pas à indiquer vos préférences ! Tout en bas vous trouverez les liens pour trois sondages à ce propos.
CE QUI NE CHANGERA PAS QUOI QU'IL ARRIVE :

• Même nombre de joueurs : 4 en équipes, parce que cela semble être la forme la plus tactique et donc compétitive du jeu
• Les effets du 7 et du 10 ne changeront pas
• La variante existante pour le 5 ne sera pour le moment pas proposée. En effet, même si cette variante est intéressante en soi, elle rend le jeu assez long (temps supplémentaire +33% environ)

Personally I'm in favour of all options that help speed the game up (as especially in turn based games) they last for ages and that is one of the downsides of an otherwise really enjoyable game!

IMO:
4 player tock is the best,
5's disabled,
Fast Start,
Ace's can be 1 / 11 or starting pawn,
Charity On,
all get my vote

Agree, but especially about fast start and charity mode. Toc arena is currently unplayable for me because it takes so long.

Reminder: 5 will be disabled whatever happens.

Would like to see a variation where, for example, after using a 4 from the Start position, you cannot be forced to pass the start position by playing a large card.

Also applies when you go all the way around the board and cannot get into 1 of the four final positions, and right now you have to go past the start position.

Also would like to see the Jack as 11 and swap, not just swap.

The poll will be closed at the end of the next week-end.
A trend seems to appear, we will see if that confirms.

I will ask the admins to set the new parameters next Monday or so.

Bonne idée, le TOC en Arène pourrait ainsi être bien plus intéressant.

Here is the setting set I asked BGA admins to introduce, accordingly:

• Player number: 4 (unchanged)
• Game type: 2 vs 2 (if possible) (unchanged)
• Use variants?: Yes
• [VARIANT] Start configuration: Fast start (one pawn out)
• [VARIANT] Charity mode: 1 turn without playing (aggressive)
• [VARIANT] Effect of 7: 7 forwards, split, eats along the way (unchanged)
• [VARIANT] Effect of 5: 5 forwards, your pawns only (unchanged)
• [VARIANT] Effect of Ace: Put a pawn in play or 1 or 11 forwards
• [VARIANT] Effect of Jack usable on one's starting pawn?: Yes
• [VARIANT] Effect of 10: 10 forwards, next player must discard (unchanged)
• (All setting for teams: Random (unchanged))

Ich baue die 5 gerne ein und fände es schön, wenn diese Standard wäre.
7 muss bleiben, die ist unbedingt nötig.
Ich finde Spiele mit 6 Teilnehmern zu lang, hier wären noch ein- zwei Abkürzungen oder spielen in drei Teams auch noch schön
4 Vor- oder Rückwärts spielbar als£ Option würde sehr oft erleichtern.
