Played the beta second edition of Takenoko last night and discovered a glitch with the improvements. When you roll the weather die and get the improvement face, the game asks you to place it. The only option is to place it or "cancel." If you it cancel, the improvement disappears from your reserve and doesn't reappear in the supply. At first I thought it was a rule change with the new edition, but looking at the rules it says that unused improvements can be selected from your reserve. Anyone know if this is a glitch or an error in the rules for 2nd edition?

In the end I don't think we will play second anyway, as the extra rule requiring the gardener to be in the space to claim garden cards kind of breaks the game for us, but curious what is up with the improvement tiles

Quick reminder about the new rules of the second edition:
• Rule 1: The “irrigations" channels and “improvements" tokens must be placed in the game immediately and cannot be stored anymore.
• Rule 2: The “improvements" tokens can be placed on tiles that already contain bamboo shoots.
• Rule 3: If no “improvement" token is available, the player can move one already in play.
• Rule 4: When the “weather” die indicates the “rain” symbol, the player can add a section of bamboo of his choice on an irrigated plot or not.
• Rule 5: To complete a "Gardener" objective, he must be on the or one of the plots corresponding to the objective.

However, as the second edition is not published IRL yet, there is no up-to-date rulebook available online yet.

Will a first and second edition of the rules be maintained for selection on BGA? Or will 2nd edition eventually replace first edition? Just played Beta and not sure I'm a fan of not being able to store up irrigation channels for later.
