No thanks? Yes, of course!

It's an old game, but a classic.
A classic so classic you probably forgot how good it is.

No Thanks! is a card game designed to be as simple as it is engaging.

Each turn, players have two options:
- Play one of their chips to avoid picking up the current face-up card.
- Pick up the face-up card (along with any chips that have already been played on that card) and turn over the next card.

However, the choices aren't so easy as players compete to have the lowest score at the end of the game. The deck of cards is numbered from 3 to 35, with each card counting for a number of points equal to its face value. Runs of two or more cards only count as the lowest value in the run - but nine cards are removed from the deck before starting, so be careful looking for connectors. Each chip is worth -1 point, but they can be even more valuable by allowing you to avoid drawing that unwanted card.

The first versions of the game supported up to five players, but now on BoardgameArena, you can play up to 7 players.

This game was originally published in Germany by Amigo as Geschenkt ...ist noch zu teuer!, meaning Even given as a gift, it is still too expensive!. Amigo's international edition, titled No Merci! (a delightful multi-lingual pun), had rules in several languages, including English. The game has subsequently been released in other countries under an assortment of names.

The game also won many awards since it's initial release time, like the Golden Geek Award, As d'Or, TricTrac, Spiel des Jahres recommendation, etc...
It's a classic.

And you can play it now here (it's short):

The whole team would like to thank the game designer, Thorsten Gimmler, and of course, the original publisher: Amigo Spiele.
And of course, nothing would have been possible without Mogri, our developer, who made it happen.

We're wishing you a lot of fun discovering this game.
And we'll come back to you in a few days, cause, eh... It's gonna be April ;)

Can anyone find Ned Flanders in this announcement? I think he’s too well hidden for me to spot, this time.

Hello,
Just a small remark, for me games of 1 complexity are done to be played without reading the rules.
On this one, it's not obvious taking cards is bad until the end of the game.

Dunno what could be done about it though.

(the negative score is a good hint, but it's not a great one)

Indeed, they are getting increasingly subtle. I'll admit I spent quite some time on this one. There are a lot of distracting figures in the image, all meant to lure your attention away from the edge of the exclamation mark. If you zoom in on that to around 5000%, you will find him.

I was until recently a teacher at the state prison of Madeira Island and my prisoner students loved the game No Thanks!

Furcsának tartom a magyar fordításban a magázódást. A neten mindenki tegeződni szokott.
