"Go play a board game in real life"

I love this site. It has been an incredible way to play board games with people during the pandemic. However, the following message I received tonight was completely unappreciated. I hope it was unintentional or an outdated notification message, but when I received an error message stating that servers were down for maintenance, but to "remember that I can still play board games with people in real life," I was infuriated.

I sincerely appreciate whatever maintenance was being done on the site, but I really don't appreciate being told to go play board games in real life when so many areas are still struggling with the pandemic.

Please revise your maintenance message.

Thanks.

I can understand where you come from, but probably you'll realize that this maintenance message was created a long time ago, that we don't use it often, and that when undertaking maintenance, our focus is technical, not about communication. We don't launch a review of our maintenance process every time we need to use it. Priority goes to keeping the service operational.

So, point taken and sorry about creating a bad emotion for you today, but please take context into account.
