why is it that people on this site don't understand that you can do more than just play games? why even have a friend list? why even have talk and chat features? everything that instagram and facebook have. this is a social media platform in a form of a game site but still social...yet you get condemned for trying to get to know others or wanting to do more than just play stupid games?

It's not that they don't understand, it's that they don't want to engage in online social behaviours, just to play games. At least that's what they want from BGA (they might be on other social platforms). I literally post on my facebook once every 5 years. I don't have twitter/instagram/etc. I am on some forums/discords/reddit but outside of some very specific exceptions (like places that I share with IRL friends), I only talk to provide help/advices/explanations, not to engage in more private social behaviours.

Because it's practical to have your IRL friends/family on it to invite them when you select "play with friends".

+Some games require to talk in some ways.
+When you're a beginner, you can ask advices to experienced players (especially on the interface/rules).
+To say variants of "glhf" and "gg".

=>Like the average boardgame platform. E.g. Chess.com, Lichess (and other chess platforms) also have friend lists and chat. Peoples don't specially use them as social media either, they are mostly used as tools to enable play.

Is this a thinly veiled protest against the moderation you received today?

Sailor I agree with you , magnus I understand some don't want to meet people or be friendly just want to play the game, that's understandable. But them people don't need to rush others by telling them play , go or any kind of comments to get you to play because example me and sailor did have a little response ( talk) togheter too BGA give us a certain time to take moves . So until time not expire do not rush others because you fed up waiting accept that playing online will not always please your ways . Anyway me if I play players humans I comunicate

Playing games it's to interact with a group or 2 people's pretty impossible to not have anyone talking it's human talking lol

That why we give us in any site games possibility to post text thru games as hello gg ty example. Anyway have a good day end day all

About when we type to say hello gl hf ty part bravo, or some might question us why have played that card or such so it make you to reply . But a lot of times, system of BGA slow example when I finished on typing and trying to go back to game page to take my move to bring me back to game it take so long . Too I don't understand why do we need to change page to post a message In games to change page each time want to say something's where system not running as fast will make thing slow why not have possiblity to talk on same page. Too in game we could be limited on words as example we can only say what BGA would offer to say as there would be links example where it would say " Hello" " have fun " " well played " " thank you " " bye " in real time games I mean that way it would stop us to engage in unnecessary confrontations that happen in games . But when playing training mode or privately with friends by invitation keep it as it's without be limited in words only limit us when playing in real time just an opinion

Personnally, I have like 1 IRL friend, maybe 10 friends from another website game, and all others are from bga.

Some of them came from the Inventors, a competitive game, because mainly I share my thoughs of strategy (I usually do one, and depending if the person answer and show interest or not, I do more or stop them).
Some of them came from Hanabi/The Crew which is a cooperative game, and in this kind of game, that really incensitive you to talk about strategy and share thoughs.

And outside from that, you have the group function, which let you have easily access to a group chat to talk with a certain community, or plan game with them, or which let you do posts about strategy. You could argue you could do that in the forum (except the group chat), but I feel like the group are better than the forum. You have access to it in your wall ( https://boardgamearena.com/welcome ), and don't spam it. Because I don't think spamming a forum from a strategy subject every 3 days would be great

But I'm (one of?) the person who use all that the most.
