No particular reason that I can recall off except it would be tedious to setup a table with that many players.

I've never seen it with 50 on BGA. I always thought this was more of a computation/server limitation. Would be a lot of fun if we can have huge tables in some games I would love to set up a 20 player welcome to table with friends
