Auction bid for asymmetrical games

I struggle to find a reason why auction bids have been implemented only in few games with races/clans.
I recall Terra Mystica and Clans of Caledonia, but there're tons of games out there that would really benefit with auctions as an option, since we almost always use it while playing them live in a table with non-rookie players.
An auction system like the one available for Terra Mystica would benefit games like Marco Polo and Marco Polo 2. But also games without clans like 7WDuel, Tzolkin or Puerto Rico, in order to bid just for the starting position.
Why not adding the auction "module" to more games on the website? Even as a premium feature, since it's not that game-changing for a casual player but it would help a lot when playing tournament games.

The games that have an auction in them are because the official rules state there should be an auction. It is not something that can simply be added to every game, even if you do it in live gaming groups. BGA licensing agreements must implement the game rules as best as possible, and adding house rules is not as best as possible.
