Bug in new registrations?

Is there some problem with new registrations to the BGA studio page (https://studio.boardgamearena.com/) ? Each time I try to register I get a red banner with the error:

"Unexpected error BGA service error (studio.boardgamearena.com [date & time])"

and the page sticks there. Thanks for any help.

I don't see anything wrong at first glance. Can you tell me which username you used and/or the date/time so that I can look for the matching error? (you replaced the useful info :D )

Thanks for the reply.

User name: I chose as user name the same user name I use on BGA (to simply things): Miwarre

Date: I tried several times yesterday and again today: 2020-06-02 and 2020-06-03

Time: the message disappears too quickly to read the last numbers; anyway I tried several times, the last one a few minutes (10-15) before posting the OP.

Thanks

I retried today, got the same error but I could read the exact time in the error message: 09:30:11

Hoping it helps... thanks.

I have got the same error when sending the registration form.
Any solution to solve this?
Unexpected error: BGA service error (studio.boardgamearena.com 04/06 11:56:00)

Not immediately, I need to investigate. Thanks for the timing, much appreciated to check the appropriate log section.

Ok, checked out the errors. For you Miwarre, it seems that you are using a "." when entering your first name, and validation fails as we expect only letters for this field.

And for you swam1991, it's also about the first name, it seems that we don't accept ideograms at the moment. I'm surprised it hasn't been reported before.

In any case, we'll have to check that and make these error explicit and/or be less strict on validation. In the meantime, using only letters for this field should allow you to get in.

Bingo! "Cleaning" the name from the dot did the magic!

Thanks, Een!

I ran into this error today as well. I don't think I had any special characters in my name. I was able to get logged in by using the "Forgot password" link, but that failed the first time I tried with the same error. It worked on the second try when I tried to get the error to report the bug.

Even though I can login now, I seem to have missed getting the "Welcome email" that is referenced in the instructions on how to get started. It's not in my spam folder and it seems there was info there that is needed to really get started.

In that case, you should write to studio@boardgamearena.com with the email you used to register to ask an admin to resend your credentials.
