What to do with such a player?

Extremely bad reputation - joins *A LOT* of games (including tournaments) and times out on most.
I feel helpless and I am facing this player multiple times in "Welcome To" games ...
---
Playing now at: 151 turn-based games
Recent penalties: 396 (quit) and 1887 (timeout)
(On 2663 recent games) --> that means that this player only finished 14.3% of games within time.
---
EDIT: Why BGA does not prevent this player from joining excessive number of games? Should I consider this a bug report?

Give a public red thumb and/or limit your tables to players with a good reputation.

I wonder how many people are all that familiar with the table restriction options? I feel like they're a bit harder to find and use than they perhaps ought to be

This is clearly an indication of "karma" system not working as it should. A player with this "quit rate" shouldn't have karma above 25%.

Fact is they play lot of little games so it is back up fast. Know also Some Guys who do this daily. So frustrating…

Look at this example : https://boardgamearena.com/player?id=88 ... reputation
He recently had more than 400 games in progress and gets penalties everyday...

I also think we need to limit the number of games in progress.

Any suggestions? Some players are able to commit to that many games so it may not need to apply to everyone. Would a restriction based on the number of recents quits/timeouts be a fair system so for example if they've had more than 10 timeouts or 2 quits in the previous 60 days they can only have 20 games in progress?

My suggestion is simple:
(1) Make cumulative penalties. Repeated infractions within a week should give more and more karma penalties, rather than always the same. Arguably, even repeated timing out (without being kicked) should give karma penalties, though small ones.
=> For example, first expulsion within a week is still -20 karma, second is -40, third is -80, etc.
(2) 0 Karma should not be a minimum. If someone loses multiple hundred karma in few games, they should not get back to 100% just by playing 100 games. Keeping track of negative Karma is important.

It is pointless discussing this and making suggestions.

BGA respond by telling you to report such a player.
