Not by default of course, but if someone is saying offensive (as in "reporting this person after the game" level offensive) statements, or just spamming things, or even just you're not in a talkative mood and the other person hasn't noticed you haven't responded to their 8 messages and wants to try 3 more.

I have no idea how there's not an in game mute feature, I've been part of this site for nearly 10 years, I think its time you can mute a specific player. I am not a coder, but I've seen that implemented in nearly every single online medium that contains a chat box in it (every game, every social media platform, etc).

I am pretty sure the Thumb down system does this!

EDIT: Following the conversation below it does block them but a) not in the current game and b) also blocks you from playing with them again.

Not quite - that means you can't play with someone, what the OP is asking for is more of an option to cut down on receiving chat messages, but doesn't seem to be wanting to avoid playing with them entirely

The thumbs down don't achieve that at all

Not an abbreviation, just fat thumbs on my phone!

Is there a way to upvote this feature request?

I enjoy playing Spades and Tichu, and in those games (perhaps because they are partner games?), there seems to be a high prevalence of players that, when losing, insist on giving unsolicited (and unwelcome) criticism to their partners in the form of condescending/insulting/offensive comments.

Currently, I just give those ill-mannered players a red thumb and move on with my life, but there are so few players of those games that giving a few active players a red thumb can make it _very_ difficult to get a game together at all.

In general, I don't think that those users are bad players making the game less fun with their _play_, they're merely badly behaved in _chat_,. If I could mute their chat, I wouldn't need to give them a red thumb, which would make it easier to get a game together more quickly.
