1. The sides of the dice are x0, x1, x2, x3, x3, x4 respectively. (So doing probability the return would be each value times 1/6=a bit more than 2. On average if you bet 2 coins you'd get 4.33 coins in return, which is a net gain of 2.33, worse than the guaranteed 3.)

2. In the Jirocho case, you bet 1 coin, so you have to pay it yourself. If you've got no coins, you can't activate his ability. (Back to counting, there's a 2/3 chance of gaining money, which is decent return.) As for the fortune amulet, it functions similarly to Jirocho because you already paid 1 coin for the amulet. Upon activation it acts like you gain whatever value you rolled. So there's 5/6 chance you get 2 coins and below, which is certainly worse than taking friendship into farm (with added flexibility too; talking about 2p).
