Anyone working on Machi Koro?

Since this game is quite popular, I thought it deserved a separate topic rather than being mentioned again in the big thread.

Is there any developer working on this game, or planning to? There is an online version on a site you can't name here, so presumably the publisher is open to licensing it. I'd guess the implementation wouldn't be too hard either (the base game, at least).

When adding in the duplicate entries from the suggestion list on BGG, it has over 850 votes and more than 43 000 reported owners, so it could have a big audience here (even Premium).

Developer interest and licensing are the only hurdles I can think of, so maybe an insider can shed some light on this.

Just because the publisher may have granted the license to another site doesn't mean that they are interested in granting it to BGA.

And, if you are really interested in spurring the development, you can become a volunteer developer and gain access to the current list of licenses, and if it is available begin work on the development.

It's not listed in the "available license" list, so probably not (unless it's a secret work by BGA).

I tried this game recently and I was thinking adding it, but the licence is marked as unavailable.

You can ask the publisher if they are interested to add it on BGA, and tell us or BGA admins about their answer. As they are doing a new version of the game, they might be interested to promote the new version, I think it's worth a try ;) Some publishers said no a long time ago and changed their mind after BGA success, so I hope they'll do the same !

So I asked Pandasaurus Games (the current publisher of the English versions) and unfortunately they have no say in this, not even for the new Machi Koro 2: https://twitter.com/Pandasaurusgame

The rights belong to a Japanese company, though luckily it has an English website and contact page: https://www.g-rounding.com/en/contact/

Perhaps you or any other interested developer could take it up with them.
