How to use double symbols to pay for two things?

The rules mention the following:
(p.16 of the rules)
Because this is a free action, it makes it possible to use a card with (boots boots) for two things: For example, one (boot) could pay for this assistant’s effect, and the other could pay for sending an archaeologist to Dig at a Site.
This allows a player for example to use a double car card to send an archeologist meeple to a site using a single car symbol and use the second car symbol to activate an assistant that needs it.
Is it possible with the current interface ? If so, how is it done ? I could not do it in my most recent game, and have no idea if this s a bug or if I just missed something.

That's an excellent point. I don't think it's possible in the present emulation.

Hi.
I need to split the two travel symbols that an assistant gives me one to travel and the other to activate the assistant that gives me an arrow head.
How must I proceed?
In case of it not being possible should I report the bug?
Thanks in advance.
