So I joined a game as a spectator and I was watching it without talking but the players noticed me and started insulting me in the chat. I tried to use the report form but when I type the game ID, it tells me that I'm not part of it (which is true). What do I do from here ?
The game is

Indeed not an acceptable behaviour. I created a report and moderated this user.

Perhaps you should change how the site works, meaning... to be able to report people in games you don't participate in, if they insult you as visitor (this seems fair, in my opinion, and I remember it was possible some time ago, 'cause I successfully reported someone in a game I was not participating in).

With the risk of being Devil's advocate here, you kind of ignored your own current ruling system (people not being able to report players in games they don't take part in), in order to make some (I assume well-deserved) justice for a random player posting in the Forum.

Also, the player(s) in the game could have very well Red-Thumbed the visitor (the original poster here), if he/she/they didn't want his/her presence around.
I think that he/she (the OP, the visitor) would have not been able to see the game after a while, if red-thumbed (I think after a refresh), and not been able to participate in the game chat, and his name would have disappeared from the VISITORS shown to the players in that game <- this is unless the rules have changed since last time i checked.

And the player posting this post could have very well left the table. 'don't see why stay and get insulted, if your presence is not seen as good omen.

Also, there was some thing called public shaming that the site was really critical against, in some cases, some while ago.

but you don't talk to them, why whould they insult you while you just watching, like if you don't have 85% karma, you can't even speak in the chat as a spectator.

Yes.

There were some higher karmas required for General Chat (apart from Premium Requirement), Forum Posting and Tables you don't play in; don't know exactly how much, for each.
From what i knew: you need 30% to be able to talk to players in private messages, and 50%, to be able to chat in the tables you join (play).
I hope i am not wrong, the numbers and/or conditions might have changed.

I don't know why they would insult this player (...), and i am sure it was not ok, and the penalty was most probably well-deserved (i saw only one player on that table was moderated).
I agree that these situations should be punished, but it just contradicts the current ruling system.

The idea i was aiming at... was that this site (which, in my opinion, is the easiest and most pleasant to play in, from all the game sites I know, and tried - so the best, i unfortunately have to say it...) should work a bit on the social aspects, communication and details regarding the settings and moderations (moderators...); i mean if they make some settings, to stick to them (or change them, based on general opinion) and NOT make exceptions for some individuals or treat others with silence treatment or incompletely explained decisions, and so on; to work on the clarity and transparency of some settings and rules, so endless debates won't start, and so on.

That is all, I don't think it is so much to ask.
