Nobody gives green thumbs, so red thumbs are dysfunctional.

If you play a lot of Hanabi, you'll know what I mean . You'll gather many red thumbs, and zero green thumbs. It doesn't matter how many games you play.

The rest of BGA doesn't really care. I'm pretty sure you'll get no thumbs of any kind, unless you type insults in chat or do something obviously unpleasant.

You can play thousands of games without any thumbs outside of Hanabi.

The suggestion is: The default assumption when a game is done should be an automatic green thumb. Basically remove the green thumb button and register auto-green and leave only red thumbs. That way playing hundreds of games without issues actually means something vs someone who has a high ratio of red thumbs to games played.

Because an account can't give more red thumbs than they have 'earned' by giving green thumbs. I am probably wrong on this number, but I seem to recall that 5 green thumbs need to be given before a red thumb can be given.

why do you think people give red thumbs so much? I don't know but i only give red thumb on people that leaving because they are loosing.. or they musts be very rude in chat

I give green thumbs almost every game, if my opponents are nice. So I can give red thumbs someday if I need to.

I give red thumbs to people who leave a game very early on (this is sadly quite frequent on a few games in real time mode) and to very rude people which happens about once a year.

I give green thumbs to 90% of the remaining players. Left out are some slow players or players against which I did not enjoy playing for not fault of their own.

Admittedly, I don't know Hanabi but as the topic title doesn't mention the game, I believe that this remains on point.

You can definitely ban without 5 green thumbs, it just has to be private.

Why? Because it's Hanabi.

Like I say, the rest of BGA is whatever. But if you want to gather red thumbs - Hanabi is the way.

I'd be interested in what the statistics for Hanabi are, but my guess is it's bad. Especially if you count private bans. I don't know if they are server-side though, i.e. if they can be counted. They're stored server-side, at least, so it's probably possible.

Why? Do people straight up red thumb bomb in Hanabi?

But private red thumbs have no bearing on anything except the player who gave them. Receiving a private red thumb does nothing for one's karma or reputation. It only prevents the player giving it to be placed at the same table as the player receiving it.
