How do you tell the game you want to purchase a reserved card?

I just got ejected from my first game, because I couldn't make the game understand I wanted to purchase a card I had reserved the previous round.
No amount of clicking on the card in the centre of the table, or the side dashboard would give me the option.
What was I doing wrong?
And why do none of the games on this site appear to give instructions how to navigate the online version of the game?
I am unable to take turns in games I know in real life how to play, simply because there is no instruction how to tell the game you want to do X.
