Kalah enemy capture

Post by Johnny Greencorn »

Could someone clarify what the enemy capture setting is vs the standard setting?

Thanks in advance.

It's EMPTY, like when the other side of the stone which captures is empty I guess.

The "Empty Capture" variant: If the last sown stone lands in an empty hole owned by the player, even if the opposite hole is empty, the last stone is captured and placed into the player's store

In standart setting last stone is not captured.

That makes total sense, is there any general thoughts from the community on the variant? It almost seems like it is easier in some ways, but trickier in others with this variant.

For me they both are the same difficulty, but different in tactics.
Open capture shortens the game.

But most of players preffers standart variant, especially best of the best players. That indicates open capture has a bit easier for weaker players to win by luck
