Reputation - math doesn't make sense?

New premium player, didn't see this already asked. I ran out of time on a few recent games due to real life crap. My reputation dropped from 100% to 70%. This seems unfair as around 93% of games I've played have had no issue. Where does that -23% come from? Thanks.

To be honest, 93% is pretty low. You lose 10 or 20 points for quitting a game (or timing out and being forced to quit)...10 points for first offense, 20 for multiple offenses. You gain 1 point when you finish a game with no issues...so as long as you are completing more than 95% with no issues your reputation will return to 100%. In reality the vast majority of people complete 99% of games without issue, if you are in multiplayer games, 4 player for instance and each players drops out in 7% that leads to a 72% completion rate...which is just a terrible experience on this site...I wouldn't play games if I thought there was that high of a probability that someone would quit.

So it seem everything was going pretty well. And then you left the website a little too long while having lots of turn based games going on.
On two of those games, you got ejected: you lost 10karma for the first game, and 20 for the second game.
Then, you finished you others games but was out of time: you gain and loss no karma from it.
If you finish a game without being out of time you will gain back 1karma. So just finish 30 games.
Just a note: having >60karma will not change much things for you. You will not be able to join a really minority of games, but that's not a big deal.

i constantly lose a lot of karma because people can't wait 20 seconds. While i play the game there is always a chance i may get an important call once per 2-3 hours. But people prefer to kick you ratehr than wait 20 seconds.

When they reach the point of kicking you, they've already waited more than 20 seconds.
And when they decide to kick you, they
have to wait 20 seconds anyway.

Thanks this is the answer I was looking for and yeah I anticipate my score going back to 100%. I didn't want my experience to start going down the drain by "100% players" refusing me because of spending two days dealing with something catastrophically more important than a game. I didn't want getting booted by a couple nurds who I've been playing with consistently for a month who couldn't wait a little bit for an emergency to ruin the site for me.
It seems like the reward slowly, punish quickly would lead to a lot of attrition to the userbase, but based on the way you described, it might be better than a large userbase with terrible habits. Thanks for your reply.

That makes sense thanks. If I remember correctly, those were both 2 turn per day games. I did skip 1-2 days so it makes sense, but I think they got used to me taking 5-10 turns per day and wouldn't have necessarily booted otherwise. I'm pretty much only going to play turn based with people I know from now on. A 'turns per week' feature would be cool, so you could play a lot one day, miss a day, and not get your site reputation trashed over it.

(I'm here exactly when you answer

)
I think it was the case before but that was deleted.
Keep in mind having a lot of time to finish a game increase the chance for people to just forget the website, and never finish the game (if you multiply per 4 the amount of time you got, having a '2 days break' kinda equal having an '8 days break').
I suppose there was too much people out of time/who left or the cost of keeping those games alive were too high.

Also remember that "x turns per day" is the fastest you will be required to play. It doesn't guarantee that it will be your turn that often.
IE, if I have a 1 turn per day game with 4 players, it may be 4 days between my turns. I take a turn on Monday, Player B moves on Tuesday (after thinking for one day for their time), Player C on Wednesday, Player D of Thursday, I don't have to make a move until Friday to meet my 1 per day.
Anything with an X moves per week would then also need to specify playing days, which then gets complicated with time zones. If I'm supposed to play on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (and live on the western edge of Alaska), does that mean the person living in Japan plays Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday? What about the person in France; noon to noon is their day?

In turn based games, you always have 3x time bank. So if you play earlier moves in 1 move in 12 hours fast enough, you have 36 hours to make your move. And then you can use the holiday, which gives 4 days extra for non-tournament games.
