Can someone help me figure out what I did wrong here?

Nothing... Not even on the Urban Dictionary site, you can't find a generally insultung meaning/slang for "cr**ss**t" (on some random sites, i found some slang meanings for croi*sant - after I googled "cr**s*ant slang"... but nothing seemed like general use, or anyway, nothing which I heard of).

1. Mistake... ()
2. Maybe you had moderations before for more serious stuff, and you would be automatically moderated for whatever you said, if a report was created against you... (in this case, the C word) ()
3. Maybe the moderator thought you were provoking... ()
4. Maybe the moderator thought it was a slang... A bit far-fetched.

If that text is all that was written (I assume it is) in the game chat... yikes.
I am curious how they would have reacted if one had said "Pain au chocolat"... I have to test that.

What a shock, another dubious moderation.

EDIT: I just gave a peek at the game. So 4 players, Love Letter, 3 US players (you included), 1 French player.
3, 2, 2, 2, the one leading with 3 points is one of the other two US players, and just a step from winning.
In the last round, the player from France (2 points) kept attacking you (2 points) and the other 2-points US player (who I assume, was the one saying the "genius" line in the pic, addressed to the French player), when he/she should have attacked the one in lead (any decent LL player would have done that, to avoid someone's win at all costs).

So 3 players are tied at 2 points, 1 player with 3 points is about to win, one of the 2-points players starts attacking you and the other 2-points player, making the job easier for the leader to win.
The other 2-points player addresses the "genius" remark towards the (obviously) kingmaking player (who happens to be from France), and you throw in the C word, I assume as a harmless joke - a popular French word.
I don't see any logic here that the C word would be any slang, and I can't imagine why someone would report and moderate you. I am sorry.

If you played a game with people, and (the reason is not important) you wrote "eucalyptus", "matryoshka" or "Pluto", or whatever, with no direct connection to anything in that game, and not directly insulting anyone, would you feel ok to get moderated for those, as insults?

Sometimes asking a counter-question helps people see something themselves. But okay i explain why i asked the question:

There were 2 unrelated context-facts: (1) people --(on the table)-- agree that this person made bad moves that are not in the spirit of the game. (2) this person is french.

By saying croissant in response to a comment about the quality of their play, you implicitly draw a connection line between the two. Like saying "he plays bad because he's french".

UNLESS you were having breakfast and the part above that we can't see was talking about their breakfast and someone asked what they had. There might be other reasons too. So i ask them why they wrote it. If they don't have a good response to the question, then it seems likely to be in fact the above.

Personally I don't feel like this is report- or moderation-worthy but it's more than nothing (I understand someone feels offended by it) and this is probably the answer to OP's question "What did I do wrong?".

Thank you for explaining, I think I understood your logic. But...

(1) No one agreed on anything... And those 2 lines were all the chat; nothing above, nothing below.

There was the "genius" comment, which could have been considered slightly offensive (if irony was considered, and not taken literally), and the random "croissant" word.
But again... no one agreed on anything regarding the player from Fr.

(2) The player should be from France, yes, based on Flag and Profile look.

While I understand your logic, I disagree with it:

• those 2 lines were all that was written in that game;
• there was no agreeing on any bad play;
• there is no direct connection of that word to anything...
• in the link i posted above, you can see French people don't even consider that word an insult, and they don't even see it as an usual thing one would say to a person.

I think the moderation and its probable logic are extremely far-fetched, to say the least.

It is like... at the end of a game, someone criticises me ("great play, Ze"), and another player says "Sarmale (a Romanian dish)" or "Bucharest" or "Simona Halep", etc.
Why would I find such random words, offensive? They lack logic, and are probably just some random dry jokes.

Or in other cases, someone says "koala" or "matryoshka" or whatever.

I find it... hard to digest, such moderation.

If after the first comment ("genius"), the next thing was "Yeah, dude, you're right, what a croissant...", then one could consider that a (really weird and illogical) excuse of an insult.

But just a random word like that...

I'm gonna rephrase as it apparently didn't come across as i meant it: People who know the game (which I barely do) seem to assess their play as not good. I interpret that from the genious-comment and from your explanation of the situation after you replayed it. That kind of "agree" (not talked about).

And also from the fact that croissant was written in response to the genius-comment. I'll rephrase this too: response in the sense of "it was written ~20 sec after the other" (no discussion about it).

But I'm still open to another reason why he would write a random word like croissant in the first place. Because really - nobody is just writing random words in the game-chat without some kind of intention.
