Acceptable to dev a game without licence?

Hi all :)

I recently joined here and am looking forward to developing some board games.
I noticed in the Studio Projects page many projects currently in development do not have licences.

I'd like to start dev'ing an extremely simple game (just to get to grips with the framework) I've found on BGG that isn't listed on the licences page.
Is this a common practice?

I'd assume we could not deploy the game to the public until we get the licence... But the work would be there if the licence became available.

Any thoughts?

I think you sumed it up pretty well already :)
I would advise to pick a game from the available licenses, but if you are not afraid to work on something that might be useless, then that's your choice

Hi

you may also have a look at available licences and pick one with a difficult lower than 2.

you can then request art files: it's always a pleasure to work with them and perhaps get in touch with editor and game designer.

you can go through all BGA process finishing in Alpha, Beta and why not, release !

If you're up to work on a lite card game I'm looking for someone to partner with on Aura : https://en.studio.boardgamearena.com/li ... ame_id=455

Thanks @Tisaac (Congrats on releasing AGRICOLA btw) and @tchobello for the input :)

Sounds awesome @WhoaWorthy, but I'd rather take the time to struggle through my first attempt :) Speeds up my learning.

I'm using mostly React, Node and Kotlin at work, so I'm using this to help me understand the intricacies of Dojo and PHP. As such I might do more damage than good on your game if I'd help at this stage :D
