Board Game Arena

Just letting you all know, my Kickstarter promotions will start 18th of October, and 50,000 people all trying to get a BGA account at the same time isn't entirely impossible. Expect wave 2 on the 20th of October.

Is that a lot? I don't know what the capacity of this site is. Nor do I really know how many people will sign up. Maybe it will only be 1000 or less. Marketing is funny like that.

I tried finding the correct contact option for passing this information on and couldn't find anything that seemed relevant, and I had no idea which email addresses were checked frequently. Though I know this forum gets a fair amount of traffic, so hopefully this message will find its way to whoever needs to know.

I'm not a fan of "buzz". My kickstarter will launch with a bang. No one knows it today, everyone knows it tomorrow. Far better than collecting email addresses of people who don't care any more as they leave them closed for the spam algorithms to judge you on.

But if it still hasn't reached you by the 19th, search Kickstarter for "Lady's Choice".

Just deployed to production, so as soon as it's approved, you can even play it. (I hope it gets approved before launch. If it's not, that's kind of a big deal.)

You do realise that initial deployment from Studio is only to Alpha status, and therefore only playable by the relatively small group of BGA reviewers?

Or you can add players to the group manually, but you wouldn't want to do that with even a few hundred, let alone 50k should they all turn up wanting to play!

Of course as it's your own game there's no question of publisher approval being needed, so perhaps you have a private arrangement with BGA already that it will be publicly accessible. But if you were having such private conversations then you wouldn't have felt the need to give your warning on the developer forum so I guess not.

Currently there is 7 Million registered accounts on BGA, and more to a 1 million daily games played.
So i wish you could bring that many users to our servers

Yup, I'm flying by the seat of my pants right now. If I cannot get this game pushed out by that time, instead of a BGA link, in its place there will have to be a paragraph explaining why I couldn't do it in time. It scares the hell out of me too. There's a very real chance that the hundreds of hours I sunk into BGA were for absolutely nothing.

The audience I'm reaching is about a million, so I got my number by assuming 5% of the people who see it will want to play. Maybe it's 50%. Maybe it's 0.005%. No idea. I've worked with this advertising before. I decided to promote my wool business to a channel that's mostly young men, because I thought it was funny. I sold so much damned spinning fibre and yarn to these young men, our business was running at full capacity for about three weeks. So what if I promote a card game to young men? I'm guessing that's more popular among that demographic than knitting. It will be interesting to see what happens when I do things seriously rather than because they are funny.

Though when time comes around, one million people will be told... something about my game's accessibility on BGA. Fingers crossed it's good news, but whatever is there to be said, that's what I'll tell them.

I also wish that too. But it's not your wishes or my wishes that get to decide. Fingers crossed everything gets pushed through in time.

What's the status of your game? I don't see it even as an alpha game yet.

Neither do I. It needs admin approval, or at least that's my understanding. I emailed ages ago. Still waiting to hear back.
