Board Game Arena

I have an odd request.

One of the things I was hoping to do is provide a resource giving new players value for the power cards that are in this game but, for the life of me, I can't find any resources that have the images of said cards to add them to a tier list for discussion.

I'd also be curious how the devs add board games like this one considering the lack of such resources and how the assets that are present on bga are so exceptional and pristine

It’s very simple, they get the ressources from the editor
BGA doesn’t simply implement games they want, they have to get approved by the rights owner of the physical game.
Maybe you can ask the game développer (Thoun) or even the original editor about such image assets? I have no idea if they are able to share ressources like that or not but it’s worth the try

We use official art given by publisher, as you say. I won't share the file, as it is publisher property.
I guess they would advise to buy the game to have a list of all available cards

True, that is actually the main reason why I caved and orders the whole King of Tokyo she-bang, as I couldn't find any complete and easy to use source of the images.

I got my King of New York, my King of Tokyo Dark Edition, the 4 Monster Packs, KoNY Power Up. And now waiting for my pre-order of the Monster Box(KoT+Power Up+Halloween+Baby Gigasaur epansions), which should release mid-November.
And the semi-announced 2x new King of xxx games semi-announced for release in 2022 and 2023 will also join my collection in due time.

A 1-5 player game(solo, woohoo) for 2022, a 2 player game for 2023, Evolutions cards for the KoT monsters to use in King of New York(not released, but they're thinking about it).

If it's true that those cards exist, I think that's a pretty weak move on their part.

They do exist actually but sometimes, with the departure of some people, this kind of project gets simply forgotten until a player digs up an old post ^^

Actually, we found them on our server, deeply buried.

I need to talk with my team first (and our communication boys and girls too).

I was afraid a print-and-play version would look to cheap. But it is doable though and easier to do than a version printed by us (in this context where factories are swamped by demands and where paper and carboard shortages happen regularly).

I am curious to hear your opinion, guys.

I hope so too. Ofcourse plenty of work on so many other games too ofcourse, but the King of Tokyo family can be a nice thing to adapt if the license ever gets extended.

They share some of the same game mechanics(at least KoT and KoNY do), so some parts of the ground work has already been done when developing one game into the other. Likewise for the expansions.

Surely the 2022 and 2023 releases must be carrying a couple of things over too, the Power Cards, the Life counters and VP, dice interaction.

@Pascalbro not sure if this helps but you can inspect the BGA HTML/CSS code to find links to the image assets used in the game.

In the BGA implementation the card "descriptions" are rendered as text overlays on top of these "background" images. This is likely done to make the text scalable in the browser (without loss of resolution) and accessibility.

Note that you probably shouldn't link to these directly from another site or use them in any non-hobby (e.g. commercial) situation.
