Bridge leech?

Structure development causes leech for directly adjacent structures. So, does leech occur on BGA if one faction has a bridge to an opposing faction's structure? Is there an official ruling? Thanks!

Bridges count as direct adjacency so yes, opposing structures connected by a bridge (which is rare) do count for power leeching.

Can't comment for what BGA does (I very rarely play TM here), but if it doesn't behave as above then it would be a bug.

It does indeed behave like that, you give/receive leech over bridges.

Also a bridge to a structure counts for Trading House building adjacency (costs 3 coins instead of 6)

One thing commonly forgotten is that the Nomad's sandstorm ability does NOT work over bridges! As explicitly defined in the rules.

Now that's interesting! Makes sense in an economic context, too, with the bridge costing 3 power.

Thanks for the replies.

Not really, imo. You only get that benefit once (when upgrading a dwelling to a trading house) - and the 3 coins you save is not as good as the 3 power you spent on the bridge (you could have spent that 3 power as 3 coins but power is of course far more flexible). Sure, getting leech across a bridge is useful too - but I would think of these more as compensation for if another player steals your spot at the other side of a bridge you've built, not as a reason to actively build a bridge to an opposing structure!

Outside extreme edge cases (which I can't really think of now anyway), there is only one ever reason to build a bridge - and that is to make a town.

Another good reason to build a bridge is to prevent an opponent from being able to build it.

By "makes sense in an economic context," I just meant that the cost associated with a bridge (3 power) is on par with the additional cost associated with a neighborless trading post (3 coin). It was a comment on how well-balanced the game is. I didn't mean it was an economically superior strategy.

While building a bridge to a neighbor is an uncommon town deterring tactic, transforming and developing an unclaimed spot across an opponent's bridge seems to be more common. With leech and adjacent trading posts, this seems like an interesting scenario for edge case tactics.

Anyway, I wanted to know how leech works in these scenarios. Now I know. Thanks!
