Release summaries

This thread contains a summary of the releases to the BGA website. This is only a list of the user-facing changes; as you can imagine there is much more activity going on behind the scenes! Any larger changes will also be accompanied by a separate post where relevant discussion can occur.

Release 16th November 2021 211116-1031

• Friends: only add players as a friend once a friend request is sent and accepted. Read more here.
• Tutorials: improve collection and display of statistics on the tutorial list page
• Tutorials: display and promote the community's best tutorials so they may inspire other equally brilliant tutorials
• Tutorials: fix tutorials displayed with "0 steps"
• Tournaments: fix rare bug occurring on long Multiplayer Elimination tournaments
• Preferences: fix display of yearly price (Preferences / Account)
• Reviewer page: fix most/least recently updated sorting and add alphabetical order option
• Reviewer page: add disclaimer to clarify that games in review are not guaranteed to complete the process and become published
• Reviewers: automatically remove inactive reviewers after 3 months (this helps us have a better picture of the size of the reviewer community, you can always rejoin the group if you meet the criteria!)

• Tutorials: fix changing status of tutorials
• Improve browser compatibility

• Tutorials: fix saving of tutorial images served from some image sharing services
• Tutorials: allow maintainers to change status of tutorials
• Tutorials: send status change notifications to tutorial author

• Game page: check links and allow them only in the video category if they match one of the main video platforms
• Game log: fix issue preventing player notifications history to be displayed in the logs for mobile on page load/refresh
• Tutorials: improving first steps of making a tutorial to make it easier to understand, with more explanations and info
• Tutorials: update buttons and warnings during tutorial creation to make tutorial creation/editing clearer and more efficient
• Alpha process: remove possibility of launching games in normal mode instead of training mode by mistake using the automatic lobby
• Gender replacements: fix issue with replacements occurring in player-to-player chat while playing a game

• Matchmaking: also apply location restriction to premium users for Arena mode
• Friends menu: remember collapsed categories
• Tables icon: show a red circle whenever you have an ongoing real-time game, or when it's your turn in a turn-based game
• Player menu: fix scrolling on mobile
• Player menu: remove some hovering effects on touch devices

• Background: restore previous darker background for games
• Forum: update the background to match the background from the rest of the website
• Profile: display tutorials written and games developed on player's profile
• Tutorials: achievements for tutorial authors
• Tutorials: explicit message when you try to publish a tutorial written by someone else
• Tutorials: make tutorial creation tool fault tolerant with old game archives
• Tutorials: warning on tutorials based on old replays
• Groups: fix avatars on player groups and guru groups for recent games
• Layout: fix positioning of logout dropdown in player panel
• Layout: fix underline colour of "Premium subscriber" link in player panel
• Guru groups: fix links to comments in guru groups from notifications tab
• Performance: improve performance of tables tab and tables icon when you have many open tables
• Tables: in tables tab of player menu, hide tables from which you've been eliminated
