Multi Player Elimination Question

Question for developers.

I have a tournament with 4 player games where only the last will be eliminated each round... I studied the right number to not have 7 or 5 players only at same time. So i choosed a tournament that will start with 116 players.

After many rounds with some players being skipped each round, at certain point we will have only 10 players left. Then 2 will be skipped and the other 8 will play in 2 tables of 4 players where the last will be eliminated. Then we will have 8 players left (the 6 from 2 games and the 2 skipped players).
Now is my question. There are 2 options:

a) The 8 players will play in 2 tables, then 3 of each table will advance to next stage, so we will have 6 players and then only 1 game will occur with 2 skipped players. We will have one exception now. On this game, only 2 (instead of 3) will advance to the FINAL where they will join with the 2 skipped players.

b) The 8 players will play in 2 tables, but we will have an exception that only 2 (instead of 3) of each table will advance to next stage, so we will have 4 players for the FINAL.

My question is: What will occur a) or b)

Thanks in advance

I cannot check right now, but I think option a) will happen.

Before the end, other things may happen though, like some player may withdraw from the tournament.

Yeah that I know.

I hope no one will quit specially because this starts with a group stage, so only the best will advance. And usually that people do not withdraw.

But if some one willdraw on 2nd stage (multiplayer elimination) this may lead to 7 players at certain point and then happens the worst. 3 players will rest and only the first of the other 4 will advance to the Final in the only game. And that is against the idea of a "don't be last" tournament. I prefer 2 advance to next stage than only 1.

Anyway can you check if option a) or b) will occur when you have time.

Thanks

my guess is neither of those

it will actually follow the rules as set, and as such will take 2 rounds to go from 6 to 4.

with 6 players left 4 will play and 2 get skipped. the last is eliminated then 5 are left.

then 4 play 1 is skipped, last eliminated and you are down to 4.

Actually it wasn't what happened to me like 2 months ago.
I was on a 4 players per table elimination tournament when only the last would be eliminated and at certain point,we had only 7 players left,

So 3 was skipped as you said. But instead of 3 advanced to next stage, only the first really advanced. It went well to me, since I won that game, and then i was on Final.

What I think is when the nr. of players isn't enough to make at least 2 tables, The remain players are skipped and on the semi-final only advance the nr. of players necessary to make a game with all the 4 players on the final.
