Low rated player how to set up game

I am low rated player and need to stop loosing against player many hundred above me HOW?
Game is great in basic mode.. somehow it has progressed to forest, nobles etc. How do I reset to basic. Where are rules ?

If you open up a new table for a game you can choose your options (as e. g. expansions) on the left side. Then on the right side you can limit the game to people of the experience level you like to play with.
If you join a table it should be written in the lobby if they use expansions (but I am not quite sure about that) and what level the players have (as long as it is not "normal").
