Board Game Arena

Has the arena "pairing" algorithm changed recently? I used to play often with my father-in-law in the same household, but now we can't get paired up in any game, even a two player game with no one else waiting... thoughts?

Do you have any filters set that you're forgetting about?

I took off all filters. It's the same thing with my son. None of us can get an Arena game with the other. Very frustrating. If there is some sort of block in place, BGA needs to let people know.

The principle of the arena is that it's a competitive context where you don't get to choose your opponents. It should not have been possible to play arena from the same location right from the start. It was unfortunately not the case, and this led to some abuse.

If you want to be able to choose your opponents, you should play simple mode instead of arena.

This is ridiculous. I understand the intent but the point of playing in our household is for fun and competition. We have never colluded. We did not choose our opponents we simply tried to play together as a social activity. I will likely be quitting BGA due to this decision.

Why don’t you just play Simple Games instead of quitting?

It makes sense to me that Arena players shouldn’t be able to be from the same WiFi connection as it’s too easy to abuse for example drafting games when you and a friend play against others and help each other out by showing what cards you have etc even if you didn’t CHeat others would do

I prefer the Arena format. It’s more enjoyable. The other players in my household agree. Guess I’ll be playing more cardboard games. Not the end of the world.

You can set any simple game to whatever the settings are for the current Arena season.

There is no difference in format of games in Arena, only in the fact that you play competitively against random, ideally equally matched opponents. And this is the one thing your household doesn't want to do.

I really don't see how switching to cardboard games, as you threaten, is going to do anything for you.

I'd like to know why I've been paired with the #3 ranked guy in Beyond the Sun 4 times in a row. Is that part of the algorithm?
