A lot to improve regarding implementation

Post by SYushen »

This top BGG game doesn't have a reasonable popularity on BGA because of poor implementation and lack of the expansion and the officla balance patch.

About the implementation, a lot can be improved, compared with what the official app of the game can do.

1. be able to withdraw a move one by one
2. be able to withdraw a political move, or not taking a political move as long as no hidden information is revealed, such as declaring a war.
3. View the played events. Players should be able to see events played by themselves in the event deck at least. In the Offical app, players can also see information like how many envent cards have been prepared by which player in the current deck to make a good guess about what they can be.
4. Hint for being able to play or copy a tactic to improve strength.
5. pridiction about points which can be awarded for Age III events. It tells you how many points each player can get if the game ends right now.
6. Digitial variant for bidding and events to make the game faster.
7. Show number of actions of each player clearly.

While it's not wrong, it's not the issue. The issue is that it's been two years that no devs looked at this game. (The only bugs that are actually fixed are those that are not related to the game, but more BGA server issues).

Sadly, in current situation, if you want to improve the situation, you need to learn to code to implement them, or find a friend willing to do so. Brainstorming idea is nice, but it won't change anything by itself.

From my understanding of the situation (i.e. comparing to other games on BGA): 1 is very difficult to implement so won't happen, but the other looks doable.

These improvements would be hugely beneficial.

These suggestions sound great.

But do not forget that BGA is a platform for hundreds of games. It's natural that it cannot compete with the implementation on a platform that only specializes in one specific game.

The implementation on BGA is certainly great and a lot of fun to play. Sure - there are always some tweaks possible - but I'll always choose playing it here over having to register or even buy access to another platform that only offers one game (even if that game is done perfectly).
