How does Thumbs Down/ tournaments work?

Hi I have run into some terrible players on tournaments. I'm talking about people who have anywhere from 80->800 time outs and sill look they have good Karma. They are going over by 14 hours at a time. I check and some even WERE online and active during the time out, just chose not to play the tournament game they signed up for. This is not because they were sleeping in another time zone when it was their turn. Some are playing over a hundred time based games so they do this to other every single day with no check on their behavior.

i am thumbing down anyone with excessive time overs. They seem to really fill up and ruin tournaments and I'm not sure why they get to look like they have perfect Karma. This is a huge issue that is just ignored irrationally. I mean WHY WHY WHY are these poor community members falsely advertised to us all as having 100% perfect karma? They are ruining hundreds of games with no thought or remorse

Anyway, does thumbs down keep me from being paired with these fools, or do I just have to quit tournaments to avoid wasting so much time on games that just end without playing out?

If all games were like these I'd quit BGA

Timing out in tournaments looks like it's a real problem. I'm not talking about people who get timezone screwed and miss by a few hours. I'm referring to people who sign up for tournaments and then abandon the games completely.

The best workaround for now is to play in "multiplayer elimination" tournaments or swiss tournaments. That way, all the people who time out should be eliminated in the first round or two, or wind up on the bottom of the swiss standings and just get paired with each other.

People who time out in more than 3 tournament games in a month should be banned from entering tournaments for 7-30 days (depending on how often they do it). There also should be an option for tournament creators to ban people who have timed out in too many tournament games.

It's discussed in another subject too.
So since that became a real problem, that should (at least) got more attentions from admins.
