Renaming players / add nicknames in friends list

Can you PLEASE allow us to somehow make visible notes or nicknames for other players? It's impossible to easily search for friends or keep track of them, which is the PRIMARY way I use my two Premium accounts on this platform.
This was suggested before and I was just going to add my reply there, but apparently you lock old suggestions, which also: How would you be able to keep track that folks are also up-voting that feature?? (a similar request in the past: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 44&p=56009)
(FYI I know you can make a private note for a user, and that's great and could almost work, except that it doesn't show up when you try to add a friend, and you can't search by it. I just want to be able to put a note for my friend applesauce123 as "Tom Smith", so that when I add a friend to a game I can type "tom" and have this user show up.)
