Koi Koi ELO system

This season I've noticed that I'm getting 0 points after winning agains players who are in a lower division, even if they are just slightly below. I'm currently in Platinum and even when I win against a gold player, I still get no points for that. I'm only getting points for victories against Elite or other platinum. Thing is that if I lose i get a lot of points taken away but if I win I get nothing at all (and they lose none as well).
This is very frustrating because I feel like I'm wasting my time on matches just to find out that I won't get any points from it. Last season I didn't have such experience which makes me wonder if this is some kind of bug or is just the way is supposed to be.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
