I was playing Carcassonne and with every move the person was blocking in my meeple so I could never retrieve them so at the end of the game I said in the chat I hated playing with them. This got moderated and I lost 10 karma points for it. How does that break any rules?? I don’t want to try to appeal it and lose even more karma points. Are we not allowed to say we didn’t enjoy playing with someone?

First of all, what were you trying to achieve by saying you hated playing with that player who was just playing by the rules and ultimately won (I suppose) the game legitimately?
Maybe it was the way you said it that was deemed offensive and you were moderated for.

Also it's a pretty common strategy to "block" opponents in a tile placement game. Now if you hate such gameplay, then it's not the player to blame but the game design itself that allows it.

You may just red thumb that player to avoid playing again against him in the future and call it a day. But you will have to red thumb a loooot of players if you don't like "blocking" technic in Carcassonne! Or you may want to try to see how you could overcome being deprived from your meeples. Just food for thoughts

You didn’t really answer my question. There is no such thing as “way you said it” online because everyone can see any implied tone they want. So if that is how moderators are working here then it is a flawed system.

I blocked the user anyways after the game for playing in such an unsportsmanlike manner, but I didn’t report them. They deserve to be moderated as well playing like that. Blocking one or two meeples is understandable, but nearly all of them? No.

It is a strange choice calling something that is completely within the rules unsportsmanlike. Perhaps you had just become accustomed to people who play Carcassonne in a "low interaction" manner, but that does not mean that's how it's "supposed to" be played. I recently played a game of Roll for the Galaxy in which the opponent used Explore/Abandon to hunt through half the deck and collect literally 15 development tiles. It took a long time and was not particularly enjoyable for me, and I gave a private red thumb. BUT THEY DID NOTHING WRONG. They just had a different style of play that I personally did not like.

As for you ultimate question, the basic rule is to say nothing negative in chat. At all. Period. It is an overly zealous rule, but it is very simple to follow.

It is interesting, yes, but moderators don't think saying "oh, what a b*d luck I had" or "oh, what a st*p*d luck I had" or "oh, I didn't like playing with you, even if you are very smart" is very ok, because each of these has a negative thing in them, which might provoke someone a heart attack or deep sorrow, so I assume they want to avoid that.
So they ban you every time you don't say something like "gl, gg, hf, tfp, tysty, sasgtsaddwdsaS, etc.", because being superficial is not seen as directly offensive.

I also think it has to do with whether you previously had a moderation or not.
To be frank... I don't think "hate" would be so upsetting or moderatable, in this particular situation (even if you could have used "dislike" instead of "hate" - I am curious if you would still get moderated with "dislike"). "Hate" could even be seen as a compliment in this particular situation, by the player who reported you; I guess (s)he decided to choose "offended" over "compliment", and report you.
In my opinion, "hate" could be moderatable, but in different situations, regarding other issues than a win-loss difference or the way the other player played.
I also don't think that the other player's play should be reportable/moderatable, a Red Thumb would suffice.

I’ve never been moderated in the past, this was the first time so just the word “hate” or used in “hated playing with you” being the bad thing here is very weird to me to be something considerable to be bad for.

I’ve already made up the 10 karma points taken off easily but I guess in the future I’ll just red thumb them.

More so I just hate that there is now a report on my account that says guilty when I still don’t think I did anything wrong.
