Hi, its my first attempt to code a game here, I pick one of the available licenses and send a email requesting the art, but so far nothing. Send it again and no response. This is for more than a month now. Im sorry if im being inconvenient, but it really takes that long? I know that the site is huge with a o lot of users and the work must be huge. Hope to get a feedback soon. Thks

I can't tell why you got no response from the BGA team. But don't forget that there are two parties involved in this : BGA and the game publisher. Maybe the publisher simply needs time to provide adequate files.

Hi, I am in the same boat- sent a request back in late Nov/early December and never had a response. This is just my guess, but I would say that the vast majority of developers dabble but don't make it far. I think the admins are probably wanting to see that you're serious enough, else they waste a lot of time sending off graphics (I once read they had something like 14,000 people signed up to be a developer?)
But don't let that stop you. If you look, you should be able to find nearly everything you need online at BGG or other places. Setup your code so that swapping in new images at new sizes won't kill what you're doing and get programming. Once you make it far enough, then get serious about getting real graphics (and @2x images for high resolution devices). I get the desire to have it looking great in the beginning, but honestly, that's the easy part.
Also, I think it will be better too when you go to the publisher if you can showcase to them what you've done, and if you setup proxy images you'll know what you need to. It will reduce the amount of back and forth requests that you'll need to make.

sorry but I disagree.
don't start anything without any answer from admin, publisher, designer...

I also disagree.
When neither the publisher nor the designer does not respond after several contact attempts, you should not engage in the project.
Without publisher/designer approval you will never make it past alpha phase, even with license clearance. Without a license it's a big no-no.

I am in the same boat as the OP - the project I picked was already on the licensed page. Your implication is that lack of response for art files from admins means a license isn't valid even if it's on the list? My gut says it's probably an overworked admin, not a licensing issue.
That aside, for a new developer-I say jump in regardless. This first project after the tutorials you will still have a lot to learn. Maybe there is a risk the license isn't valid, but if you have the passion for it, jump in while the fire is hot. Keeping posting on discord or sending emails, but the final art files are the least of my worries with all that is needed. Granted, it might also depend on why you are here. For me personally, I wanted to learn a new framework while working on a game I love irl. So it's a win regardless.

Yes, it is invalid in effect.
As already said, without the approval of license holder you cannot publish the game to beta phase or further, even if the license is granted.
Also, publishers or designers may have changed their mind and don't want an implementation on BGA, or may not care anymore.
Lack of responses may come from admins sometimes, but usually it isn't.
If you still want to jump in regardless of warnings from other developers who already witnessed those invalidated licenses, it's your choice.

thank you guys for ur feedback. Although I agree with the ones who said that "jump in even without the response", I also agree with the ones who said "dont do it". Some overbusy staff is also a very real possibility of this problem. So I will not do it, for now. And here is why: my time is short. I cant compromise with a project that: 1) has a chance of being abandoned due to my lack of time and 2) if I finish the project and cannot use it (cannot play the game, cannot see other people enjoying both the game and my adaptation), I, of course, will learn a lot but also a lot of satisfaction will be lost. I will pick other license (there is plenty of them), try to do everything right according to BGA and the publisher/designer wishes and rules. And then I come back to this one. If someone was wondering what game was it, it is Cooper Island.
Thank you for all of those who responded!
