Not sure if this is just me, but i am getting a bit nonplussed (not raging before everyone starts going 'that's the way it is, get over it) when you build up XP points in a game past a 100, you're doing fairly well, then you hit a couple of losses and BOOM you're back at 100 again. Case in point: got to 175 in Space Base, lost a two-player game by two points in the last round and lost 23 XP in one go. I mean, i hate to invoke the f-word, but this doesn't seem fair to me.

I know it's not much of a big deal, but it would be nice to go up in the rankings of some of these games, ya know?

ELO is not XP. ELO is supposed to measure you ability at a game, not how many times you played it. Every victory increases your ELO (more if you win against high-ELO players), every loss decreases your ELO (more if you lose about low-ELO players, and never below 100). How close you win or lose does not have any influence, just win or loss.

Losing 23 ELO in one game might seem harsh. But you can also win many points that many in the beginning. The amount of points gained/lost will decrease after a couple of games, so you won't lose that many points in one go later (but also not win that many as well).

Okay, so ELO loss. Noted. The ELO on SB is now back to 100. Sigh. It just seems that... i never progress beyond that.

You might want to consider how people get such high ELO scores. Once you work that out you will can just ignore it and enjoy playing.

I never got peoples fascination with ELO. Sure, getting higher is fun, but the gaming also revolves around fun, right? Not just about ranking.

That's why I don't do tournaments, and only just have started doing some arena games if I couldn't find enough opponents for simple games.
2 out of my 3 main games I play, my ELO is above 150, but if it suddenly dropped to 100 I wouldn't care.

Agreed. Having a higher ELO is fun, but the fun of the game itself is the main thing here, no? Discovering a game, discovering different tactics, ... and over time you'll understand games better, win more and get a higher ELO probably.

Yeah... but no. But thanks as this is the closest that anyone else on here has got to getting it. :)
