Caro gomoku, no restrictions 19x19 board?

Caro seems difficult to achieve anything besides a draw in, but does the first player have enough of an advantage if unrestricted by pro or swap rules to win against perfect play by the second player? In swap2, this game appears boring. Perhaps, since it's popular in Vietnam, it's actually interesting if played without first player restrictions or swaps?
