I am pretty sure, this was asked (and answered) before, but I do not want to check trough 25+ sites of threads, and maybe more people who are new to BGA, are interested to know this as well.

Why is it not possible to give up a game if you are totally out of a chance for a win or at least a draw?

Because your opponent may appreciate to finish the game and does not play only for the result.

It is possible. There are various limitations, one of those is that you cannot do so in a tournament. That would throw out various tie-breaker mechanisms and be open to abuse.

Sur certains jeux (Dungeon Twister, Carcassonne... par exemple), il arrive que la victoire n'est plus possible, assez tôt dans la partie, et cela devient particulièrement pénible de poursuivre. Non seulement il n'y a plus aucun plaisir de jouer pour les joueurs, mais cela peut même être ressenti comme une sorte d'humiliation, par celui ou celle qui est convoqué à chaque tour pour se faire maltraiter...
Je suis pour la possibilité de concéder la victoire en tournoi.
Cela vaut mieux que de laisser traîner la partie parce que l'un des joueurs n'a plus aucun plaisir à jouer.

Can we please implement resignation also in tournaments at least in the abstract games ?
After a lot of requests it was added to Hex, but still missing from Abalone, Chess, etc.

It's not even just not being able to win.

I made a boneheaded move recently and signed up for 2 tournaments I couldn't participate in because I was going on vacation. I attempted to simply forfeit to save everybody the time and hassle, but they were forced to wait for the timer to run down. I get it's an outlier situation, but when someone (like me) realizes too late that they did something really stupid, there should be a mechanism to mitigate the hassle the dummy is causing others.

You can now withdraw from a tournament. Go to the tournament page and near the top, there's a button "Withdraw from tournament"

I don't see the point why giving up a tournament game should not be possible. First, it's a waste of time to play a lost game til the end, and second, it's very common with abstract games to recognize the point where no win is possible anymore.
And withdrawing from tournament is not the option I'm looking for, I just want to give up a single game and continue the tournament, which makes perfectly sense in a non-KO-tournament of abstract games.

There is a segment of the population that believes that not playing out a game in a lost position somehow creates a disturbance in The Force. They are likely not tournament chess players, I imagine.
