Inappropriate usernames being allowed by moderators

Usernames cannot contain the word "god". Try to create one, and you will be prevented from doing so, with the message "Sorry, because of our moderation policy your username cannot contain `god`." I think this is a good policy - such usernames are certainly going to be immature and triumphalist. It's a very strictly-applied policy - "god" cannot even appear as a substring of a word, so the username "pagoda" would be forbidden.
So when I encountered a player calling themselves "G0d of Carcassonne", I reported their username. The moderators, though, ruled that the username is fine.
I find this decision to be completely bizarre. Obviously, if the word "god" is considered inappropriate in usernames, it does not become appropriate simply by switching an "o" for a "0". What is the point in having a policy if you allow the simplest possible evasion of it?
