What are the Odds?

Post by TheRedWalrus »

Anyone want to try and figure out the odds of both you and your opponent scoring a hand of 24 points - in the same round? It's got to be close to impossible. I'm not talking in the same game, but the same actual round. That's what just happened in my last game. The Internet tells me the odds of one 24 point hand are about 2.8%.

Supposing they're independent, it would be around 0.08%, or 8 in 10,000. I guess it would be less than that, because at least one of the possibilities is precluded (because the opponent has it). But even 1 in 10,000 is not close to impossible.
