Question for developers on specific scenario

So this hasn't happened yet in a game, so this isn't necessarily a bug or suggestion to report.

On Sword Beach, I'm curious what would happen if an allied unit is on row 6 (the first hex row past the beach) and receives 3 flags. It is my belief that on a retreat the movement restriction of "Maximum movement onto beaches is 2 hexes" is ignored and the allied unit would simply retreat 3 beach hexes back with no damage.

Is this correct?

The rule book contained in the base box states that terrain effects are ignored during a retreat when it is possible (no retreat on impassable terrain).
This rule point obviously applies to a scenario described in the same booklet page 21 (Sword Beach). This is a general rule, which can be modified by a feature of the terrain that specifically evokes retreat. This is particularly the case for sea hexagons (impassable except for landing units on barges) and for frozen river hexagons (2 dice rolled at each passage, retreat included).
To answer your question exactly, any unit that is no longer on the beach in the Sword Beach scenario is further away from the sea by at least 3 rows of hexagons.
So, if it has to move back 3 hexagons and is not prevented from doing so by another unit, an impassable terrain or obstacle for it, it will not suffer any additional damage during its retreat.

Thanks diamant for the confirmation on my understanding of the rules. I guess I should have been more clear that my question was less on understanding the rules and more on wondering if the implementation on here abided by that understanding.

It should work as intended.
