I recently discovered this game and love it
A bigger variety of tracks would be good though.

agreed, or a table option to place x number of corner pieces / boundaries by the players.

Should it be possible to put a chicane (zig zag) on one of the circuits or on a new one. This will make the players brake on one or two speed, and maybe let the cars who are behind come back on the race...
I think on the hight straight line on the oval circuit, it could be good!

So I have just talked with BROT42, who developed this game as I would like to get some more "real world like-maps" - or just anything else, than just what we have currently. So I asked him, if it's possible, what would we have to do etc.

This is his current reply:

it's doable but depends on the designer, since it would be a design choice. knowing him i think he could be open to this, for example through a contest of fanmade maps. but then someone would need to implement them in BGA, and i am no longer a maintainer for that game sadly

I have no idea who maintainer is though. Hopefully he could provide some help/information here, so we could advance with this.
