What is the point…?

To fill in…what is the point in joining a game if you’re going to sit on your 1st move for over an hour? I have some games that have been waiting 3+, and it gets frustrating!

Sorry to complain, I just don’t see the point to make one wait forever. Either play to play, or don’t join. (And no, if it gets late or something comes up in game play, of course you have to go. This is different, of course.)

Just a random newb to the site’s rant. Thanks for reading.

If the player has taken more time that was allotted to them by the chosen time control for the match, then skip them instead of waiting.

If the player has not taken more time that was allotted to them, then wait, and consider picking shorter time controls in the future if you prefer matches unfolding at a faster pace.

EDIT: I see you have a few tables ongoing with 1 move / day time control (which is the typical time control for a turn-based match). Roughly speaking, that means every player has up to 24 hours to make their move. It's possible, likely even, that the person you matched with was not actively logged in but was queued to find a table and you were automatically matched, and they will play their move when they next login. If you do not want to play these asynchronous turn-based tables, I would recommend instead starting tables with "real-time" time control, where each player has a few minutes max to make their move, and are present "live" at the table.

See, that’s the thing…I honestly don’t mind waiting to play, as I know there are many people in different timezones. And not everyone has as much free time as I’m allotted.

What I did, and do, have a problem with is someone signing up for a 2 player game, they’re 1st player, and then they abandon the game.

It’s been sitting there since 5pm yesterday and they have yet to have touched their 1st move. Very, Very frustrating!

Maybe you would be better playing real time games instead of turn based? Then the whole game plays out inmediatelyb

Please read carefully what others write.

As others wrote, you should really try out real-time games. You can choose it in the top center menu in the game lobby (when you click "Play now").
