class project

Hi,

Sorry for my English, i'm a French-speaking teacher. I would like to make a special project with my 6th grade students, I'd like to make them each be a specialist of a different game. They would then have to learn the game enough that they would teach how to play this game to other students. I would like to have some playing game so they can experiment the games over a period of about one month, but I don't know how to make it possible.

Is there a way that I can start 5 games at the same time? Can we be 5 people on the same IP address to play in the same game?

Do I have to create 5 premium accounts? I already have one with my husband (username CharlesAlex) and we’ve been playing a lot ourselves.

In summary, I’d like to find the easiest, and cheapest way to play and discover games with my 20 students.

Thank you

Hi,

I can provide some answers for each part of your question.

Yes, you can use the turn-based mode to do that. It allows you to launch several games and/or tables of the same game in parallel, while you cam have only one realtime table active. You can find the option on top of the main lobby, second tab.

That is possible to share the same IP as long as one account involved is Premium.

So, no; it is not necessarry as long as the Premium account is involved in each game with several with the same IP adress.

One Premium account is enough to get started but you may wish to get some more to ease the organisation, especially if you want many more games and do not want the lone Premium player be part of all.

Take care,

Wood

Maybe a tiny clarification to add: „involved“ = play, it‘s nit enough to open the table and leave it if everyone else is in and no premium acc left playing, that makes the table autoclose.

Indeed, it depends on whether you are actively participating or not.

In either case, have all the students make their own account. I would also create a private group for the class and maybe another group per game: https://boardgamearena.com/newgroup

Then, depending on the situation:
  • You are actively participating in all games: create all tables as turn-based with your own Premium account.
  • You are not actively participating in all games: assign one student to be head of their table and offer them a Premium membership for a month. Have them create their own game table, either real-time or turn-based. You can then spectate all tables with your own account.
