Regarding "15% hits"

Hi, again. :-)
Sorry if I'm making a lot of threads, I just feel it would get a little messy if I kept everything in a single thread. I guess there isn't that much traffic here anyway? :-)

There are two strings in the translation interface which is called "hits" in English. Is there any way of knowing which is which? The idea is to change the translation in Swedish so it will say: 15 vinster • 60% vinstkvot (or 15 victorier • 60% victory ratio) because "hits" (träffar) sounds a little silly in Swedish -- or rather unswedish entirely.

Edit (now put in a separate post: http://forum.boardgamearena.com/viewtop ... f=4&t=2587 )
I'll put one more small thing here about the group settings menu. This is how it looks while translated at the moment. The space, question mark and colon are not part of the translation string.

My suggestion is to do away with the entire colon and space (potentially moving it into the string?), or change the wording so it's not phrased as a question because ?: is a fairly strange combination.

(if this kind of feedback is unsuited for the translation forum or unwished for entirely, please say so and I'll stop)

Hi,

You are right, it's best to keep different subjects in separate threads or it gets difficult to follow what's going on ;) (in fact your 'edit' would be best reposted as a separate topic).
This type of feedback is welcome as it improves the overall quality of the site (but we don't always have the time to take it into account, and some things get stored for later).

As for 'hits', both refer to the same thing in distinct technical contexts. So both should be translated with the same value for coherence.

Cheers,
Een

I'll put it in a new post then!

Ah, okay! I'll change it ASAP then. :-)

Hm, what exactly are "hits"? I thought it was games played divided by games won; but I now have 100 played, 45 victories but 52% hits in Can't Stop.

Hi,

There is a description of the 'hits' statistic in the FAQ: http://en.boardgamearena.com/#!doc/Faq
Also, there was an error in the formula that has been fixed recently.

Cheers,
Een

Funny, must've overlooked it when I checked the FAQ last time!

Oh, then I suppose victory ratio is quite fitting afterall. Even though it's somewhat counter-intuitive. Alternative would be to translate it literally to hits and make people look up what it really is?
