Fractal is a variant of Hex.

The board has symmetry of scale. Hence the name. The idea was to de-emphasise the importance of center cells. But now of course the outer cells are higher in value. I incorporated the pie (switch colors) rule for balance, just in case.

I designed Fractal in 2010 and, beautiful game though it is, nobody ever wanted to program it (until very recently at another game site). Now I know why. It was a lot of work. Not particularly challenging. Just work, especially the way I did it.

All of the 151 cells were cut from photos - twice. Once for black and once for green, and then precisely placed in image arrays. Then because of the unusual tessellation - a cell could have 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 adjacent neighboring cells - I had to list the coordinates of each cell together with the coordinates of all the cells surrounding it.

I hope you will enjoy Fractal.
