Players ignoring turn based game times and playing hours

I've been setting up fast turn-based games with playing hours in my time zone. I'm finding in most of those games that one or more of the players use up all of their time by not playing during the game hours and not playing often enough. Often, the game ends with someone forced out of the game on time and the game left in a broken state.
So far, my recourse has been to "Skip Turns Of Players Out Of Time" for the reputation penalty and assigning a thumb down on the player's profile. Is there anything else that can be done?
It feels like people don't bother reading the description for a game before joining. It's quite frustrating to not be able to finish my turn-based games.

You've met humans, right?
But no, if people carelessly join a game they can't or don't care to finish, that's what the time limits are for. If you have another solution, propose it in the Suggestions forum.

And you also must consider that player can just suscribe to turn-based game without seeing the parameters.
For me that is what I mostly do : I just sign for a turn-based game whatever parameters are.

And you do not see this as exactly the problem?
Someone takes the time to craft a statement so that everyone can be aware of when the host intends on being active and encourages others that are active during those times to join.
Some simply ignore the Sign on the Table as to what the current players are seeking and just plop themselves at the table and ignore the other players respects. So one person who just doesn't care about others can disrupt the timing for 3 others.
Because it is just too much hardship to actually read about the table you are joining?

I can´t tell for the others but for me I just want to play.
In Arena turn based you don´t have access to manual mode like in simple game, it is just automatic.
Setting the parameters for each game doesn´t seem obvious (I don´t know in other languages but in french it is just really difficult to understand what is the right answer, difficult to translate here though).
For me the problem is not the players but the interface, when you make the choice to suscribe it is just between real-time and turn-based.
I am not sure I am really clear, my english is not as good as I wish.
In my case when I play simple game I choose manual mode to reallly choose the parameters I like but this is not an option in Arena.
If you want to change that maybe you can make a suggestion in the suggestion file.
I was just trying to explain why this could happen. I am pretty sure that half of the players don´t even know there are such parameters.
And, if I am correct, in Arena turn based, when you ask to play, once a table if full it doesn´t ask you to accept, you just join so you don´t know the specific parameters before you are. whereas in simple game you have to accept.

Personally if I want a fast game I play real time and if I play turn based I've learned to accept that sometimes the game can go on for 2 weeks or more. That's just life.

Sorry if I spoke out of turn - I only play casual (not arena) and was not aware it had a different system. For the casual turn based - Why would I join a game where there is a Host Statement about the table that I do not understand? Why join a game where they want to be active at certain times - if I do not? Why not start my own table?
Would we treat fellow gamers this poorly if we were not playing as a faceless avatar? Would we be willing to sit at a table of real people and ignore their pre-game requests as to how it is played? Those are Real Live people and then we show up and decide our wishes trumped theirs.
It is easy to forget sometimes - but we are real people too. Even those of us without the blocks of real time to play 'real time' online.

Arena turn based doesn't even come under this setting. Neither does automatic mode in the simple lobby.
Well 4 moves per day maybe, but the active time settings are 8 moves or higher, and those have to be deliberately turned on if you want to play a game under those settings.
So this thread applies to bring using manual simple lobby. So there's no excuse to not be reading. Yeah it'll start automatically when the last player joins, but the information is all there before they do so.
I am happy to not be part of this problem because I know I don't generally have the time available to be playing fast turn based. And I probably wouldn't even enjoy it, I often get annoyed when the games in playing basically the up real time, or more so, when I happen to be online at the same time as my opponent, and I'm looking at taking all my turns and leaving, and then can't because it's suddenly my turn again
