If you're a fan of prog, try this from live version of "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here" from Porcupine Tree:

I've been a prog fan for years and only just come across them - can't understand how I missed them!

I love Apollo 440. They are so underrated.

This comes with a story.
Reading Festival in 1986. Yes I AM that old.
It had been raining hard except for the last day, so my friends and I turned out to make the most of the morning sunshine.
The first band on didn't look too good though. Grinning idiots in terrible clown make up.
But I thought I'd give them a chance.
They totally blew me away. Instantly became my favourite band and has been ever since.
Brilliant. Genius. Utterly unique.

Most people hate them.

I recently discovered Steam Powered Giraffe.
They are a pantomime band, dressed up as steampunk robots and have the whole act around it.
Founded by the Bennet siblings The Spine and Rabbit, completed by a 3rd partner(The Jon, Hatchworth, Zer0).
I still have lots of songs of them to discover, but the ones that I am most fond about are

- Honeybee (love the harmony)
- I Don't Have a Name For It, catchy
- Malfunction, representing how wholesome the SPG community is
- Transform, sung by Isabella "Bunny" Bennet(aka Rabbit) about her transition. Even if I have no affiliation with the trans community, it's a theme I have a great deal of respect with as long as it's handled with proper care.
- covers Diamonds which really shows The Spine's vocal range and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by which I first encountered them.

My favourite genre at the moment is 'post-rock'. It's a pretentious name, but I have always enjoyed instrumental music, and at the core, post-rock is about trying to make people think/feel with music made by the typical rock music instruments
PG.Lost - Yes I Am
Explosions In the Sky - Your Hand In Mine
What The Blood Revealed - The Corporation As We Know It Is Dead, Dead, Dead
Souvenir's Young America - Invocation In The Caldera (I always wanted a longer version of this to soundtrack a game like Bang!)
A few from 65daysofstatic
Weak4
Taipei
Radio Protector
Asimov
Burial Scene
There are some groups that will occasionally mix samples in
Nordic Giants - Together
Nordic Giants - Evolve Or Perish
MaybeSheWill - Not For The Want Of trying
MaybeSheWill - Red paper Lanterns
MaybeSheWill - Volga
I also listen to rock music in general like Metallica or Biffy Clyro but I figure most people have heard of them by this point!
